What's New in CrystalMaker 4.0?
Custom Bond Styles

Previous versions of CrystalMaker allowed a choice between single- or dual-colour bond cylinders. CrystalMaker 4.0 now allows you a wide choice of bond/line styles for each bond specification (entry in the Edit > Bond Specs dialog).

The Bonds page of the Model Options dialog has been completely redesigned to permit choice of custom bond styles. Each bond specification is listed, and you can choose new bond styles from the popup menu buttons. Coloured boxes allow you to choose your own bond colours. In addition, you can assign a default bond style, and apply this to new bonds, or the entire bonds list.

Important Notes:-

  1. Wireframe plots use the same bond colours and (approximate) bond styles as ball-and-stick or stick plots.
  2. Please be aware that you can only use custom bond styles for global bond specifications. (Global bond specifications are those which are listed in the Edit > Bond Specs dialog.) If you use the Add/Delete Bond Tool to create new bonds, these are normally created using the default bond style. You can, however, automatically create global bond specifications by holding down the shift key as you click with the Add/Delete Bond Tool.
  3. If your monitor is set to display thousands or millions of colours, smooth, non-pixelated bonds and lines will be plotted.
  4. Black-and-white plots now use the same plotting styles as PhotoColour or PhotoGrey plots (the old B&W-specific bond styles have been discontinued). In Black-and-White mode, bond cylinders have a black border with a shaded interior; the shading is proportional to the darkness of the bond colour.
  5. CrystalMaker 4.0 binary files containing custom bond specifications can still be used with CrystalMaker 3.1 or CrystalMaker 3.0, however these earlier program versions will display all bonds in the same style.
